22 Foot Pipe Monster:

This message comes from a local 20-year veteran rider just our first Superpipe season finishes in Vancouver.

We have had a great winter-- and though I got my fill of powder riding, I want more Superpipe!

The workers at Cypress have gone above and beyond this year. The mountain's investment in this tool created the best pipe British Columbia has ever seen, possibly all of Canada. Nightly or intermittent grooming lead to a halfpipe that was smooth, fast and perfectly shaped in differing snow conditions. Perfectly shaped. This season, I returned faithfully to the Cypress superpipe and through hundreds of runs I transitioned my formerly small-pipe riding to soar out of this monster. What a standard! The 2010 Olympics poise to stand out as the best yet. The progress of Olympic ridership through Superpipes will likely rewrite Olympic history in 2010 with walls and airs in excess of 22 feet.

Zaugg/PBL- you have made tremendous, unprecedented and unforeseen impact on many qualities of snowboarding. On the behalf of all snowboarders, you deserve an Olympic medal of your own...

22 Foot Pipe Monster:

The machine really runs well and transports easy. It pretty much is a nice setup with the gauge and all inside the cat. It is a dream to use this machine compared to the super dragon, this 500 foot long pipe can be cut in about 3-4 hours instead of 6-8 hours. With this new cutter, I am saving time which is good, as we constantly work 70 hour weeks and up to 95. When the cutter saves time that matters thanks. All and all you sell a nice product and the people riding this pipe really enjoy it, (along with me). I am not the best rider but can get 10 feet out.

"We are simply amazed that the 8 foot pipe has been literally packed with ski school guests wanting to learn to ride a pipe since day one."

18 Foot Pipe Monster:

"The new pipe shaping equipment made by Zaugg, have found the perfect balance for me as an operator trying to offer a good product to the riders. The Pipe Monster has reduced my working time with any type of snow or weather conditions that I deal with nightly on the East Coast.

The blower design is so useful! I can remove snow from the pipe and blow it on the deck, or blow it to areas that are thin like the top, middle or bottom. After a snow storm when snow drifts inside the pipe I just simply blow all of it out to bring it back to shape. Normally I would spend hours pushing all the snow down and out.

An avarage night of maintaining the half pipe runs about 4 hours, which leaves me with more time to shape elements like our Superpipe and mini-pipe. I have also found many uses for the Zaugg in the terrain parks. I use it during construction of our parks for blowing snow up onto the jumps and for blowing snow around the rails. A lot of times it is easier for me to blow the snow than push it onto bare spots in the park. I find myself using it more and more for stuff other than just shaping our pipe.

Another key point to me is the minimal breakdown time. It's very easy to work on! In the 3 years Sunday River has owned the Pipe Monster there has never been a night where I couln't cut the pipe. If something does break, we are abl to fix it and get back on the mountain within an hour or two...As an operator that is very important to me!"

18 Foot Pipe Monster (with 4 foot attachment):

(article from firsttracksonline.com) August 18, 2002.

A new generation of Superpipe maintenance is shaping the future of the snowsports industry and high-flying action at Okemo Mountain Resort.

Introducing the Zaugg Pipe Monster, which Okemo brags is unlike any other pipe shaping equipment available. It's "considered the 'Rolls Royce' of pipe grooming, it's specifically engineered to produce a world-class Superpipe and cut walls in excess of 22 Feet in height," explains Pam Cruickshank, the resort's public relations director. But the Zaugg technology won't appeal to just world-class athletes. The Pipe Monster creates a smooth compression so pipe enthusiasts of any ability level can expand their skills and learn more tricks in a monstrous pipe.

The Zaugg attaches to the nose of a groomer and acts as a gigantic snow blower to expertly cut and shape a Superpipe. The elliptical radius produces a cleaner cut, creates a smoother surface and reaches heights unattainable by other pipe grooming machines. Larger and smoother transitions to vert allow for more speed to achieve even greater height.

Since this article was written, Zaugg has now introduced a 22 foot Pipe Monster. The director referred to a 4 foot attachment added to the 18 foot Pipe Monster.
